PLAIN’s ambassadors:

  • promote plain language and PLAIN in their region and language,

  • bring a local perspective to international discussions at PLAIN,

  • are a contact for people interested in joining PLAIN.

How do Ambassadors help PLAIN?

An ambassador can do these tasks:

  • Create content for social media in their languages.
  • Promote PLAIN’s events and webinars in their regions.
  • Organize online or local plain language events (such as webinars and round tables).
  • Attend plain language events and write summaries for PLAIN members.
  • Adapt international plain language initiatives and PLAIN’s resources for their country.
  • Engage with plain language networks and experts in their regions.
  • Share plain language news from their regions in PLAIN’s communications.
  • Nominate local leaders in plain language for PLAIN’s awards.

Want to join the community?

An ambassador must:

  • be or become a member of PLAIN,
  • comply with the IPLF’s definition of plain language,
  • spend 5–10 hours per month on their tasks,
  • be interested in a long-term commitment (1 year or more),
  • use English as a working language,
  • communicate regularly and promptly.

An ambassador must not:

  • use the ambassador role primarily for personal marketing,
  • represent PLAIN in any legal capacity (e.g., sign contracts),
  • be a media spokesperson for PLAIN.
