PLAIN Awards
We present our globally recognised plain language awards every two years at our international conference, honouring the people and organisations who advance clear communication around the world.
The Christine Mowat
Plain Language
Achievement Award
We present this award to recognize an outstanding contribution to advancing plain language at the local, regional, national, or international level in any language.
The award is in honor of Christine Mowat, a past president of PLAIN and winner of the former PLAIN International Award, which was subsequently renamed the Christine Mowat Plain Language Achievement Award.
The Cheryl Stephens Innovation Award
The Cheryl Stephens Innovation Award honours PLAIN co-founder Cheryl Stephens. This award recognises the intellectual contribution of the awardee as well as the gratitude from our plain language community.
It celebrates bold, inventive approaches to plain language — new tools, platforms, programmes, or methods that expand access to clear communication.
The PLAIN Board does not have to present awards at every conference and may present more than one award to more than one recipient. Awards are presented at the PLAIN international conference award ceremony
Nominations are open to all PLAIN members. You may nominate yourself, your organisation, or someone else. Winners are notified a few months before the conference and recognised at the award ceremony.
