About the winner

Lynda Harris is the founder and CEO of Write, New Zealand’s leading plain language consultancy and one of the largest in the world. Under her leadership, Write became the first plain language company to achieve B Corp certification — reflecting a deep commitment to social purpose alongside commercial success.

She created the WriteMark plain language quality mark, which gives organisations a way to demonstrate their commitment to clear communication. She also founded New Zealand’s annual Plain English Awards, which celebrate plain language achievement across government, business, and the community — a model that inspired the US ClearMark Awards.

Why they won

Lynda received the Christine Mowat Award at the 2015 Dublin conference in recognition of her extraordinary contribution to building plain language as a profession and an industry in New Zealand and internationally.

Her combination of commercial innovation, quality standards, and community-building demonstrated that plain language could be both a sustainable business and a powerful force for good.
